Having someone to talk to can make all the difference to your mental health and wellbeing. Discover how Companion Connect, a befriending and companionship service based in Colchester, can help you and your loved ones.
Enjoy regular conversations to combat loneliness. Campanion Connect offers you the opportunity to talk on the telephone, have a video call or meet in person. A friendly chat is a lovely way to brighten your day and lift your mood.
It's not unusual for people to experience loneliness. Modern life often means people are busy. Friends and family move out of the area. Illness prevents you from enjoying your usual hobbies and activities.
Isolation is rarely good for us and that's why something as simple as telephone call, from someone who wants to know how you, are can be a lifeline.
The best way to understand the difference befriending can make is to experience it for yourself. Book an introductory session for just £10 and see if it's right for you. Get in touch to arrange your first chat with Dave.

Fill in our quick connect form to let us know that you'd like to be contacted. You can also tell us a bit about the person who will be receiving the service and what they need.

We'll get in touch by telephone or email to discuss further and answer any questions you have. You'll also be able to book the first call with Dave for just £10. It's an easy way to see if this is the right service for you.

Following your first call, we can talk about whether you'd like to have regular calls and book them in.
Calls and in-person conversations are £25 per hour. In-person conversations may be subject to additional charges for travel or other expenses. We can talk about these when planning our chats so there are no surprises!
You can benefit from a telephone or video call anywhere in the UK. In-person conversations will take place in Colchester and the surrounding areas.
Companion Connect offers befriending services and this does not include personal care.
Sorry - Companion Connect is not a counselling service, nor can we offer any advice.
Initial in-person conversations will always happen in public places for everyone's safety. This could include cafes, town centres or even the cinema! Following on, it may be possible to arrange at home visits.
Yes. Anyone you talk to via Companion Connect will always have a DBS check and be fully insured.
Everyone knows a Dave! You'll be talking to Companion Connect Dave! He has over 10 years of experience in befriending.

I first discovered the magic of conversations to help with loneliness and mental wellbeing when running a social meetup group. It was amazing seeing strangers smile as they joined in the chatter.
Some years later, I began volunteering for a befriending service and was reminded of the difference a chat can make to your day. However, I found it frustrating that free services are often limited to just a handful of sessions. During a decade of volunteering, the people I talked often wanted to carry on and have this become part of their weekly routine for as long as they needed it.
That's how Companion Connect was born with me as chief conversationalist and connector.
